The Dirt

It is a well known fact: nobody walks in LA. So when the City decided to do something about it, they knew they needed an aggressive signage program as well as an online presence where visitors and residents could learn more about the City and the 13 districts, view walking tour maps and download podcasts to guide those tours. Working in conjunction with an LA-based PR firm, Usermonkey developed the online portion of the program, which is the nation's largest.

The main requirements of the site were to tie in closely with the signage itself as well as give the client the ability to maintain the content themselves. The content management system was developed from scratch to fit the client's exact specifications, allowing for non-technical users to make edits easily. The design mirrors the signage and extends from information and maps to podcast tours that are available via RSS feeds or as direct downloads.
